Rhea Lana: Sneak Peak!

Today is one of the Consignor drop off day's at the Rhea Lana of Broken Arrow Spring/Summer sale. I love this day, for 2 reasons!

1) I get to drop off the items that I'm selling; therefore, making space in my home for the new things that I will buy at the sale (don't tell my husband I just said that)!
2) I get a Sneak Peak at the awesome items that other consignors have already dropped off!

My car was loaded and ready this morning!

Thanks to Debbie and Kristin, the amazing co-owners of the Broken Arrow RL, I was able to take some pictures to give you a Sneak Peak as well! Here are some of the items that will be available in just a few short days.

Clothes! Clothes! And more clothes! All sizes, all styles, boys & girls!

Toys * Swings * Room Decor * And much, much more!

If you want to see what else they have to offer, then you'll have to get over to the sale at their new location at 71st & County Line (in the old Wal-Mart). Doors open to the public on Sunday, April 6th, at 11:00am. You can see the full event schedule Here.

Questions: Ask me or the Owners themselves - Debbie (debbiew@rhealana.com) and Kristin (kristin@rhealana.com)

It's Rhea Lana Time!

It's Rhea Lana time and that means three glorious things:
  1. It's time to make money selling our kids outgrown clothes, toys, shoes, etc.
  2. It's time to save money buying other mom's clothes, toys, shoes, etc.
  3. I get my closet space back!
Today is the first of two days of Consignor Drop-Off. If you ever wanted to know what this day looks like then keep reading. Last night, I switched cars with my husband so we could load up his truck and have it ready to go this morning. Here is how you pack up 195 items...

Did you look closely at the second picture? The clothes in the floor were secure, but I buckled the clothes up that were in the seat. Safety first?! No, I buckled them to keep them in order. I spent to much time hanging, pinning, labeling, and putting them in size order for them to be a messy pile in the floor when I got to the store.

Thankfully, my dad was able to help me unload the items while my mom watched my two youngest girls at her house. Upon arrival, the owners of RL provide you with a rolling clothes rack and hamper to help you get your items from the car to the sales floor. By the way, the table that you see in the corner of the picture is loaded with my items ... along with the table next to it. This is my biggest sale so far.

It took me just under two hours to have all of my items looked over, tagged, and put in their proper place for the sale. Consignor Tip: If your items are tagged in the store, then they're guaranteed against loss. Meaning, if you come to pick up your unsold items after the sale and one or more of your items are missing then you get paid for those items. As in, Paid In Full!

Well, there you have it! It's that simple to sell your items at RL! If you like to wait until the last minute then you still have until 8pm tomorrow to get your items turned in. If your a shopper, then get over there and support your local moms/dads.

The Sale Hours are as follows:
  • Sunday, Sept 8th: 11am-7pm
  • Monday, Sept 9th: 9am-8pm
  • Tuesday, Sept 10th: 9am-8pm
  • Wednesday, Sept 11th: 9am-8pm
  • Thursday, Sept 12th: 9am-4pm * Many items are 25% off!
  • Friday,Sept 13th: 9am-8pm * Many items are 50% off!
  • Saturday, Sept 14th: 9am-4pm * Many items are 50% off!

HAPPY SHOPPING!

Great Deals Coming Soon!

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE saving money? Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE making money? Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Rhea Lana? Well, I do I do I do!

You can read my first Rhea Lana (RL) blog post Here. Since that time, I've been hanging, pinning, and tagging lots of little girl clothes. The below picture is one of three sets of clothing that I've prepped to sell. I can't wait to get these items dropped off so I can regain my closet space. Speaking of, the Drop-Off dates are only two weeks away (Sept 4th-5th).
Consignor Tip: Plastic hangers are required and they can be purchased in sets of 10 at Wal-Mart for $1.

Don't forget about Halloween! RL is a great place to buy and sell your gently used Halloween costumes. I will definitely be shopping for my girls' costumes at RL.

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes! It seems like our kids grow out of that brand new pair of shoes we bought them before they even step out the front door, right?! RL is a great place to buy and sell those shoes.

Did You Know?
  • The Average Consignor made $280 at the Spring 2013 RL event!
  • Consignors earn a minimum of 70% of their sales ... or more!
  • Consignors are invited to the Private Pre-Sale on Saturday, Sept 7th!
  • Consignors pick up their checks the day after the sale ends (Sept 15th)!
  • RL guarantees items against loss. Meaning, if you show up on Pick-Up Day and one of your items that didn't sell is missing then they will pay you for the lost item. That's amazing!
  • Each volunteer and consignor receives a set of passes which includes 2 Guest Passes (a Guest pass allows friends/family/co-workers to shop the Pre-Sale at 6pm on Saturday, Sept 7th!) Write your first and last name on the back of your Guest Passes and hand them out! All Guest Passes received at the Pre-Sale on Sept 7th will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 RL Gift Certificate! That's a BIG deal! $50 goes a long way at RL! Win-Win-Win for Consignors, Volunteers, and Shoppers!
Facebook Contest: Click Here to "Like" the Rhea Lana's of Broken Arrow facebook page. Then "Share" the below picture (must be a public share to count!), and comment that you have done so and your name will be placed in a drawing for a $25 RL Gift Certificate! It is that easy to get some free money for our event!!!

Like I said in my first blog, feel free to ask me any questions that you may have about buying and selling at RL. Whether you would like to be a consignor or a shopper, I'm here to help. Or you can email the owners of the BA Rhea Lana, Debbie (debbiew@rhealana.com) and Kristin (kristin@rhealana.com). They are wonderful ladies!

Saving Money at Target

The girls and I made a quick trip to Target this morning for a few good deals. Here is the breakdown:
  • Two boxes of Pampers Cruisers were $34.99 each ($69.98 for both) and one box of wipes was $1.97. I had two $2.00 off manufacturer coupons for the Cruisers, one $2.00 off Target coupon if I bought both Pampers diapers and wipes, one $0.50 off manufacturer coupon for wipes, and one $1.50 off manufacturer coupon if I bought both Pampers diapers and wipes. And, I got a $15 Target gift card for buying two boxes of Cruisers.
    • $69.98 + $1.97 = $71.95 - $2.00 - $2.00 - $2.00 - $0.50 - $1.50 - $15.00 = $48.95 (or $0.20/diaper). I usually pay around $0.16/diaper, but I literally had less than 10 diapers in the house so this was a great deal for a purchase that wasn't planned out very well.
  • Two Reach flosses were $0.92 each ($1.84 for both). I had a manufacturer coupon for $1.00 off the purchase of two.
    • $1.84 - $1.00 = $0.84 (or $0.42 each)
  • Two Head & Shoulder Shampoo's were $4.99 each ($9.98 for both). I had a Buy One Get One Free manufacturer coupon and two $1.00 off the purchase of one manufacturer coupons.
    • $9.98 - $4.99 - $1.00 - $1.00 = $2.99 (or $1.50 each)
Retail price: $83.77 + tax
After coupon price: $52.78 + tax
Savings of: $30.99

That's not a bad savings for an unplanned trip. Honestly, I was only going for the diapers, but I decided to skim through my coupons before heading to the store to see what others items I could purchase for my stock pile while I was there. Money saved & mission complete!

More than Milk

Before couponing, I never would have known that the Borden milk at CVS was priced lower than the exact same brand at Wal-Mart. With three small kids, we go through two gallons of milk a week so this was valuable information. Each week, I look at the CVS deals to see if there is anything that I can pick up on my weekly milk run. On my last stop, I bought three boxes of Puffs tissues and two Disney Gummie Vitamins. Here is the breakdown:
  • Milk $3.49 each with $1.00 each (limit 2) back in ECB's (Extra Care Bucks). The ECB's are shown in the picture, and can be used on my next purchase towards anything. $3.49 + $3.49 = $6.98 with $2.00 ECB's to use next time.
  • Puff's tissues retail for $1.99 each ($5.97 for all three), but were on sale for $0.99 each, and I had a buy three, get $0.25 off manufacturer coupon. $0.99 + $0.99 + $0.99 = $2.97 - $0.25 = $2.72
  • Disney Gummie Vitamins are $7.49 each ($14.98 for both), but CVS had them on sale for Buy One Get One Free, and I had two $1.00 off manufacturer coupons and one $2.00 CVS store coupon that printed at the kiosk near the front door. $7.49 + $0.00 (free one) = $7.49 - $1.00 - $1.00 - $2.00 = $3.49
  • I also had a $3 off coupon that was emailed to me.
Retail $27.93
I paid $10.19 and got back $2.00 in ECB's to spend on my next trip!

It's that easy!

Buy Low, Sell High

One of my favorite events of the year is just around the corner ... It's the Rhea Lana of Broken Arrow children's consignment sale! If you don't know about RL, then you can check out the entire site at http://brokenarrow.rhealana.com/. The Fall event will be held at 121st & Elm in BA (near Wal-Mart) from Sept 8th-14th. Questions? Just ask me! This is my fifth sale to participate in as a seller/buyer. You can also email the owners (Debbie & Kristin). These ladies are phenomenal!

Buyers:  RL has it all - clothes, toys, strollers, books, shoes, high chairs, etc. You name it, they have it. All of the items sold at RL are brought in by mom's/dad's just like you that are willing to sell their gently used items to a new home.

Sellers: RL is a GREAT place to make some money. Just look around your house. I'm sure that you can see toys that don't get played with, or you know of clothes that don't get worn. Maybe there are unused items in your childs closet? Maybe they are in tubs in the attic? RL is looking to sell those items ... and plenty of local moms are looking to buy them. Sellers also get extra perks for volunteering their time, helping to advertise, etc. If this is your first year to sign up, please tell them I sent you.

I've been collecting items for this sale ever since my youngest started growing out of her Fall/Winter clothes. Besides clothing, I will also put the following items in the sale: two high chairs, a large outdoor play item, toys, lots of shoes, socks, bibs, rattles, books, DVD's, etc. I just started sorting and tagging my items over the weekend so I have a lot of work ahead of me. Honestly, it takes work, but it's one of the easiest processes to go through. You know I'm serious when I say that since it's coming from a mom of three small kids with a part time job and NO free time. Trust me, it's EASY and WORTH it!

This is just a tiny sample of what I'm preparing to sale. Speaking of, I've got to get off of here because I have more sorting and tagging to do. Come to think of it, you might need to start doing the same!

Saving Money at CVS

I bought those 11 items at CVS yesterday for $1.71 plus tax. Here's how I did it:
  • Puff's Kleenex: The two smaller boxes on top retail for $1.77 each. The larger box on the bottom retails for $1.99. All three were on sale for $0.99 and I had a coupon for $0.25 off the purchase of 3.
    • $0.99 x 3 = $2.97 - $0.25 = $2.72
  • Secret Deodorant: The one on the left is Secret Outlast and it retails for $5.79. The one of the right is Secret Clinical Strength and it retails for $8.99. Both were on sale for $4.00 and I had a $3.00 off coupon for both. I haven't tried either of these items, but at this price, why not?
    • $4.00 + $4.00 = $8.00 - $3.00 - $3.00 = $2.00
  • Irish Spring Body Wash: Retails for $4.99, but was on sale for $2.99. I had a coupon for $0.75 off.
    • $2.99 - $0.75 = $2.24
  • Softsoap Foaming Hand Soap: Retails for $3.29, but was on sale for $2.99.
    • CVS ran a special for $2.00 back in Extra Care Bucks (shown in pic) for the purchase of this item. This made the item $0.99.
  • Edge Shave Gel: There were 7 oz and 8.4 oz cans for the same price. I bought the larger cans to get more for the money. It pays to read the labels and to compare the prices! The cans retail for $3.19 each. I had two Buy One Get One Free (up to $3.00) coupons.
    • $3.19 x 4 = $12.76 - $3.00 - $3.00 = $6.76
  • I had an email coupon (hint: sign up for your favorite stores email list for special savings) for $5.00 off a Beauty purchase of $25 or more. I spent $26.74 to make sure that I could use this coupon.
  • CVS ran another special for $5.00 back in ECB's (shown in pic) if you spend $15 on Irish Spring or Edge. I spent $17.75 so I qualified for this.
  • I had a second email coupon for $3 off any $15 purchase so I used that as well.
Here is the calculation of the bold numbers above:
  • $2.72 + $2.00 + $2.24 + $0.99 + $6.76 - $5.00 - $5.00 - $3.00 = $1.71 + tax! The retail price was $41.35.
The key to saving so much money is to (1) pay attention to the store sales, (2) stack manufacturer and store coupons, and (3) check the rewards that the store gives for purchasing certain items. These three key factors can be added together for maximum savings.

The two email coupons I received were an added savings on this trip. In addition, I also get CVS quarterly rewards for purchasing items from their store and every little bit adds up. Last quarter I got a coupon for $8.50 off the pruchase of anything in the store. That's huge!

HAPPY (cheap) SHOPPING!
