This picture of Parker was taken on the drive down (check out Bailey's sweet glasses in the back seat). Unfortunately, Parker started getting congested the day before we left so I packed up all of the meds that might be needed while we were gone. She ended up with a 102 fever that first night so we (and lots of friends) covered her with prayer and she persevered. The next morning her fever was down to 99, and she enjoyed herself at the indoor water park. She did throw up the second and third nights from coughing and congestion, but other than that, she was doing ok and we were keeping a close eye on her.
Before heading to the Lodge, we stopped at REI since we don't have this store in Tulsa. The girls played on the Boot Test Trail, reclined in some portable chairs, and crawled in a tent while we shopped. Good times!
The girls were so excited when we drove up to the Lodge for the first time. I must admit, I was a little excited myself! It's a gigantic place o'fun!
We stayed in one of the Kids Cabins. The girls had their own "log cabin" inside our room. It had three beds (one being a bunk) and their own TV.
The entire place was designed with kids (and adults) in mind! You could stay there for weeks and never have to leave. They have an indoor/outdoor water park with multiple levels, lots of slides, a wave pool, kids pool, multiple hot tubs, a lazy river, etc. You also have access to an adult/kids salon, multiple restaurants, game room, Magic Quest, story times, life size characters, gift shops, swim store, ice cream parlor, movie theater, etc. You name it, it's there!
Parker fell asleep at the dinner table on our first night at the lodge, and her daddy had to carry her to bed. Not feeling well mixed with too much fun at the water park equals one pooped kiddo. Success!
On day two and three, we played the Magic Quest game with the girls. It's basically a scavenger hunt over the 8 floors of the lodge. You have a wand and a guide book that helps you navigate the floors and find things hidden all over the place. It was a lot of fun! The girls (and mom and dad) enjoyed the game while all of us got a workout by taking the stairs from floor to floor. Well played on the cardio workout GWL, well played!
I couldn't be more proud that Greg found a Sasquatch on vacation. He does exist (at least at GWL)!
The water slide on the top left of the below picture was crazy! My dad and I rode that on an inner tube together on night three. We got in the tube and the enclosed slide immediately went outside were it was pitch black. We literally could not see a thing as we took the curves, dips, and rocked back and forth in that huge funnel. We laughed the entire ride. It was hilarious and made a great memory. Love you dad!
Greg and I also went together on a slide earlier that day that was part inside and part outside. We laughed the entire time because the inner tube went much faster than we anticipated. He and Bailey rode the same slide the day before. So much fun!
Bailey rode home with Pops and Weasey and these two silly girls rode with us. Lou gets the award for the Most Creative Use of her Luggage as a Pillow!
If you haven't been to GWL, we highly recommend it. Even though the water park was indoor, it was a little cold in there so be aware of that if you go in the winter time. But, being there in the off season and during part of the week, allowed us to do whatever we wanted to do with out waiting in long lines. A big thanks to my parents for bringing up the idea to vacation there and letting us go with them. Fun, Fun, Fun!
