The Red Eyed Monster

This innocent toilet strikes fear into the heart of my sweet little 3 year old. If you have been through the potty training years and your child survived the automatic flushing toilet, I congratulate you. If you are in the process of potty training, I feel for you. If you have not yet started potty training, be warned!

Bailey loves to use the potty and she is very proud of herself when she can go "all by myself." However, she has met her match when it comes to the automatic flushing toilet (AKA the Red Eyed Monster). No matter how bad she needs to go, if she walks into a public restroom and spots the Red Eyed Monster, then she will plaster herself against the far wall and protest the fact that she ever needed to use the potty.

The Red Eyed Monster combined with the fact that ALL public toilets flush "way to loud" has me surprised that she will go anywhere. I've even tried to cover the Red Eyed Monster to show her that it won't flush until we are ready for it to flush, but the fear has already taken over and she is out the door.

So, to all of you Red Eyed Monsters out there ... we will overcome you ... someday!
